A Room of One's Own

Virginia Woolf gave some words quite outstanding in this lecture.

I keep them organized in this place.

"At any rate, when a subject is highly controversial - and any question about sex is that - one canot hope to tell the truth. One can only show how one came to hold whatever opinion one does hold. One can only give one's audience the chance of drawing their own conclusions as they observe the limitation, the prejudices, the idiosyncrasres of the speaker."

我想應用到很多地方也相通。

強迫別人接受自己的結論是根本不通的，只要能讓聽者自己作判斷下結論、能發現講者的意識形態就行了。

"Lies will flow from my lips, but there may perhaps be some truth mixed up with them; it is for you to seek out this truth and to decide whether any part of it is worth keeping. If not, you will of course throw the whole of it into the wastepaper basket and forget all about it."

說得很好，因為教育者/演講者似乎總是擁有真知灼見，所有從他們口中說出來的話語，總是被學生當成曠世箴言。但是吳爾芙要台下聽講的女大學生們記住，如果覺得她講得不對，那就丟了她說過的話，忘了這沱垃圾吧。
